Symptom

After you have sent 60 mails through your mail account within an hour your server denys further outgoing mail with this (or a very similar) message:

554 5.7.0 Your message could not be sent. The limit on the number of allowed outgoing messages was exceeded. Try again later.

Cause

Despite anti-virus software on customer computers viruses manage to install on systems and to unnoticeably send SPAM through the computer. Some customers also use insecure plugins in their (Wordpress-)websites, which send SPAM directly. Such programs send thousands of SPAMs within minutes.

Spamming by a customer can caus the IP address of the customer's host computer to be listed on a blacklist. Afterwards mail recipients' servers disallow mail transport for e-mails that were sent from the sender's host. This does not only affect your own customer account, but other customers' accounts, too. The economic damage can therefor become very high. In the worst case the host's IP address must be changed or all customers on that host must be migrated to another. As the one who has caused the damage by sending SPAM you would be liable for it.

In order to protect you from such damage the servers limit the number of outgoing messages to 60 mails per hour. If the limit is exceeded, Bitpalace can recognize the issue and intervene early to prevent the worst.

Solution

You are basically allowed to send as many e-mails through your server as you like. You are also allowed to send newsletters, if they are note SPAM. This means that the recipient must have explicitely agreed to message reception or must be your customer. For these cases please notify us before your send your newsletter and tell us when you will send it and how many mails you want to send (approximately). We will gladly unlock your mail account for your mails.
